Consultation

As you may be aware, planning permission for the redevelopment of Weylands Treatment Works was granted in 2025. It was agreed through the planning permission that an identified package of improvements to the local road network to address speed and road safety was required.

Before Surrey County Council decide which improvements will be made and their detailed design, we are consulting with the community to understand your views.

A BETTER WEYLANDS

A LONG-TERM VISION FOR WEYLANDS TREATMENT WORKS

The application for the former Weylands Treatment Works site proposes to transform the existing waste and commercial layout, which has been long-established on the site but falls outside of the control of the planning system. A modern commercial estate with a separate affordable housing area is proposed, designed to the highest environmental standards with supporting transport and green infrastructure. The development offers a unique opportunity to improve and enhance the local area, restore land at the eastern end of the site to high performing Green Belt and to provide a catalyst for regeneration and enhancement of the adjoining Hersham Trading Estate.

Having received outline planning permission earlier this year, we are now preparing our Reserved Matters planning applications. This means that the principle of development – the new commercial facilities and access, landscaping and hew homes – has been agreed, but we are now looking at the detail of the development zones.
